Miss Chinese International 2015 - Preview

Hi Everyone!
The quality of this year's contestants are quite average but it's definitely better than last year where Grace is leading the race at all times. This year, there will be quite a fight as I dun think there are any candidates standing out at the moment. But here are my guesses. I'll be happy if all of them get to be in the top 10:

Crown Contender:

  • 7) 許愫恩 - Kuala Lumpur

Although she is currently not one of the media favorites, I think that she will do quite well as she is quite well-rounded contestant with good height, good look and quite a good speaker as well, which are the type of contestants expected from Kuala Lumpur. She looks a bit like the KL representative in the 1998 MCIP. If she manage to shine during the finals and the interviews, she could even win the whole thing. (PS she managed to win the Traditional Dress Award earlier today)

  • 13) 李卓兒 - Seattle

One of the surprise candidates this year. No one was expecting her to come BUT it's a pleasant surprise as she is one of the better candidates this year. She is currently one of the media favorites for her white skin, sweet smile and a (very vague) resemblance to Li BingBing. She was the winner of the Miss Chinatown USA pageant back in 2011. I actually like her a lot and I am sure the judges are definitely like her. However, if she reli wanna win the competition, she would need to step it up and have more confidence in herself. She looks quite demure everytime she speaks and poses.

  • 17) 陳怡靜 - Vancouver

    • Vancouver is definitely the powerhouse of this pageant, they have sent reli strong candidates in recent years, e.g. Gloria Tang in 2012, Cindy Zhong in 2013. Erica is very strong and she resembles MHK 2nd runner-up Whitney Hui, although Whitney is still much prettier and more photogenic in my opinion. Erica also have an edge against the other candidates as she can speak fluent Cantonese albeit having an accent. She is also a media favorite and she looks gorgeous in other photos other than the official one above.

      Top-shots (Top 3 to Top 5 Material):
      • 3) 吳紫薇 - Bangkok

She is a media favorite as she has a mixed look. However, she is a downgrade from the stunning candidates back in 2012 and 2013. I think top 5 would be the furthest she can go given her lack of skills in Chinese. However, beauty-wise, she is one of the top of the group.
      • 6) 邵珮詩 - Hong Kong

She's actually my least favourite Miss Hong Kong since the millennium (well maybe not MHK 2008). I just find her look uninteresting and her speaking skills aren't that good to be honest. She would make it to top 5 for sure just because of her sash factor and her eagerness to perform well. However, I reli dun think she should go further than top 5 even if she has a very good talent, which I am sure she will! TVB seems to like her quite well coz her styling since the pageant has been her best since she become MHK.
      • 11) 惠櫸喬 - New York

I originally have her as one of the crown contenders. She is one of the best representatives from New York in recent years alongside the gorgeous mixed beauty Jasmine Hayter in 2011. However, I was quite disappointed by her since her arrival. Although she is very pretty, she looks like a cutey face model or actress more than a beauty queen with such a brown hair colour. She is also very young which could be shown by her speaking skills. I reli hope she can pull herself together and give a decent performance during the interview and the finals. Then she can easily swift into the top 3 with ease without difficulty.

      Dark Horses:
The candidates below are the ones which I think may pull out a surprise on the final night with their speaking skills and eloquence.
      • 15) 蔡美霆- Sydney

She is one of the darker colour-ed girls this year. The reason why I have her here is because she seems to be a reli fun and humorous girl with personality. She is liked by MCIP 2013 Grace Chan as well as MCIP 2011 Kelly Cheung. She also seemed to have a great time with Tik Yi Dat in the Miss Chinese Australia pageant. Let's see if she can shine in the interviews and during the final night!

      • 16) 方詩揚- Toronto

Some people actually like her a lot. I dun reli see the reason. Maybe I'm missing sth BUT I can't deny the fact that she can speak Cantonese very fluently and she does looks vibrant in her portrait. However, I think she still too short and too mature to make serious inroad to the top 5. But top 10 should be within reach for her.
